Announcing the 2009 Season
BRAVA to Central Florida theaters who are

PlayFest
WPI is honored to once again be a guest theater for the 5th year in a row at Orlando Shakespeare Theater's PlayFest: The Harriett Lake Festival of New Plays. WPI will present two readings of THE GALT REGENCY by Judith Montague, directed by WPI’s Kathleen Lindsey.
About the play:
THE GALT REGENCY is a fascinating play about a woman considered by some to have been the first female president of the United States: Edith Galt Wilson, the second wife of Woodrow Wilson. While the President was incapacitated by a serious stroke when in office, Mrs. Galt kept even his closest advisors from having access to Wilson and ran, or stalled, the government herself for five months.
Playwright Judith Montague spent five years researching her fictional account, which was selected as the Northeast Theatre's "History in the Present Moment" project in 2004. It has had various professional readings during its developmental process.

Fourth annual Playwriting Workshop
General contact: WomenPlaywrights@gmail.com
Building on the success of our most recent playwriting workshop, WPI will be hosting its 4th Annual in 2009, again featuring Deborah Brevoort (author of The Women of Lockerbie) as facilitator and workshop leader. Ten women participated in the 2008 workshop, all of whom gave positive feedback on their time with Ms. Brevoort and the lessons learned. For 2009, we hope to make the workshop available to more participants by offering scholarships to promising women playwrights. If you'd like to sponsor a playwright or would like more information, please contact WomenPlaywrights@gmail.com.
